I just don’t understand
why
people who want to take all the tropes in ASOIAF that Martin subverted
and put them in a show where they play them all straight
why did these people love ASOIAF in the first place?
Because um
subverting tropes is a big part of ASOIAF
and if the idea is that Ned dying is the most important kind of subversion
I just
don’t

Hah, you’re right, it was Sansa’s chapter. While HBO’s consistent sidelining of Cat and Sansa is awful, I would disagree with Margery and Olenna - they aren’t PoV characters, but they’re still important.
I have to agree and I’m not gonna lie, I truly enjoy what they’ve done with both...

swordmaster-sarosh said: The PoV chapter was about Tyrion, and his shame at having to… What was it even? The stool that Joffrey rofl’d away with? HBO tried to be faithful with compromise, I think; the scene would have felt quite different if Sansa stood w/ no monologue.
Yeah well I don’t think they care whose point of view the chapters were from when you consider that Catelyn was one...

yeah see, in “context” the not-kneeling isn’t such a BIG deal, but I couldn’t help noticing that most of the episode was about everyone but Sansa
Yeah, pretty much. From what I can recall, if there was gonna be a single moment this season to expand on her character’s pov it would’ve...

No Sophie Turner video in this week’s extras to go over Sansa turmoil. And in the Inside the Episode video of the week it’s all about Joffrey and Tyrion. They don’t even mention Sansa’s shitty position.
This is a 14 year old girl being married into the family who killed her father and actively wages a war against her own mother and brother. After being isolated and abused,...

The Silencing of Catelyn Stark | Feminist Fiction →
In the books, the war of the boy king is Catelyn’s story, subverting tropes of the dashing young hero who beats the odds and triumphs over all. She adds an emotional level to the story, as the mother who worries for her children, but she’s also a strategist and deeply pragmatic. She’s one of the few figures who realizes that they’re not merely playing at war, and understand what that must mean....

If you’ve read the books you know that as the series goes on it just gets more and more horrid. The reason there’s so much sexualization is because it slowly scrutinizes it. People are angry at Dan and David for this incident in episode 6, but this is the kind of message that George Martin is trying to create in Game of Thrones it’s not a heroic...
